– Four-Legged Friends Welcome! –

Article by Julie Clark, owner of Yare Cottage

Lots of guests at Peninsula enjoy bringing their dogs on holiday here with them and many of our cottages cater for our furry friends. As always, when out and about, please remember to clean up after your dog and keep them on a lead at all times while on-site at Peninsula.

There are plenty of local pubs that are dog friendly and there’s no better place to start than just a few steps from the door of your cottage, at Peninsula’s own “Boatshed”. A warm and friendly welcome is ensured and your dog will be delighted with a biscuit from a selection of doggie treats while you browse and enjoy the large range of real ales and ciders on offer. Lovely home-cooked meals and snacks are also available which will have your furry friend licking his lips in anticipation of a tasty morsel!

Just a ten-minute drive away The White Horse Inn at Neatishead is a wonderful pub that welcomes dogs in the bar areas at all times. Wonderful meals are served in this friendly village pub and there is now a brewery onsite too. This pub is so popular it is recommended that you book a table in the bar to ensure you get to taste the wonderful local produce showcased on the menu.

If you fancy really making a dog-walking day of it, there is a series of walks of between 2.4 miles to 5.2 miles taking you between (same name for a pub but different location) The White Horse at Upton, The Maltsters and The Ship Inn. See below for further details of these pubs. Find the walking map on The Ship Inn website under the “location” page

The White Horse at Upton is a community owned traditional family and dog-friendly pub that offers delicious home cooked food and real ales in the comfortable bar area. In the summer months there is a large beer garden to enjoy.

The Maltsters at Malthouse Broad, Ranworth is yet another wonderful eatery (6 miles from Peninsula) that welcomes our furry friends. You can even upload a photo of your dog enjoying time at The Maltsters on their Facebook page “Dogs of the Maltsters”. The Maltsters is beautifully set just a stone’s throw from the Broad and it’s worth taking a walk around this picturesque village while you’re in the area.

The The Ship Inn at South Walsham also welcomes well-behaved dogs in the main bar area and there is the lure of the odd canine treat being offered! A great selection of real ales as well as delicious food is available using lots of local suppliers to ensure fresh and tasty produce is used in their wonderful meals.
